Slow, occational flicker on Monterey 12.5.1 (for M1) and DisplayLink Manager 1.7.1

I upgraded the OS and DisplayLink Manager after summer vacations, and now I'm getting occasional "flicker", or hick-ups, or replays of previously drawn screens. It usually happens after having entered some text, like I'm doing when writing this text here. Whenever I pause, the last letter "disappears" from the screen during ~300 milliseconds, before it appears again. I've figured out that its the full screen that's redrawn, first in a previous state, and then back to latest, actual state. I can switch browser tabs with a mouse/pointer device without causing this to happen, but when I change tabs using keyboard, the flicker appears about every 5-10 seconds.

This is incredibly frustrating. I will try to roll back DisplayLink Manager to a useable version.

Update

I tried the new Alpha, and the same problem exists there. Turning on the new HiDPPI feature didn't make any difference.

I've downgraded to 1.6.1, which doesn't have this bug.
