M1 Mac mini and Dell G5 docking station
Hi
I'm using a M1 Mac mini and A HP G5 dock (just purchased) to connect to a suite of Dell 27 Monitor | S2721H I called tech support at HP before buying the Dock but I'm getting a 'No display link enabled display error' and the Mac is mirroring displays from the display port and HDMI connections on the dock. Reading another thread I've checked the system report and looked up the device and under the USB-C G5 it says Vendor ID: Hewet Packard. which seems to suggest that the guy at HP was wrong and the G5 isn't displaylink enabled? Can you advise if I'm right? and if yes what a better choice would be I'm guessing a Dell D6000? And as a follow up question to avoid more disappointment, do you know if the Dell D6000 will support triple screen set up on a M1 Mac mini. Note this is a mini not a pro. It supports 2 screens natively, but I'm trying to get 3 via a usb dock as I want to be able to switch quickly between my work PC and my home Mac. |
Hello
You are correct, HP G5 is not a DisplayLink powered dock. Dell D6000 supports 3 external monitors - 2 via DisplayLink and 1 via Alt-mode. So if you wish to have all three connected to the dock and nothing connected to the Mac directly then it should work just fine. |

I have the Dell Universal Dock D6000 It works for my 2 monitors but that is it. The mouse that is connected doesn't work. My teams keeps crashing when I try to have an audio call. Youtube doesn't play audio due to playback issues when the DELL Audio is chosen. This issue is with the latest software on a MacBook Pro 14" M2 Pro chip (the latest model) On my older MacBook Pro with the Intel chipset the docking does not have any issues. Can you please advise what I should/can do? Kr, Mickel |
