2560x2880 with a DL-5500

I have a StarTech USB32DP4K, which has a DL-5500 chip, which works under Ubuntu 24.04. I've been able to drive 4k@30Hz with it. I am now trying to get this to work with an LG DualUP monitor, which has the rather odd resolution of 2560x2880, but can only get 1080p@60Hz as a maximum resolution. Should 2560x2880 be possible?

To the best of my knowledge, the source of the issue you describe is due to the specific DisplayLink chipset used in the StarTech adapter.

To expand further, the DL-5500 chipset does not support the resolution of the LG DualUp display you are using at 60Hz.

For your reference, DisplayLink has a chart showing the maximum resolutions supported by their various chipsets here --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...lution-support

With that said, I myself use two LG DualUp monitors. In my testing using a DisplayLink adapter based on the newer DL-6950 chipset, I am able to drive my displays at their maximum resolution and maximum refresh rate in Windows, macOS and Ubuntu 22.04

In conclusion, you may want to consider updating to an adapter that is based on the DL-6950 chipset.

Yes it is achievable to get that 2560x2880, see what the guy above me said to try, if that doesn't go anywhere there's a chance your current Ubuntu kernel might have limitations with the DisplayLink adapter, try updating it

Thanks. I can confirm that this works with a DL-6950, I have 2560x2880@59.9Hz.

Thanks for reporting the results, and I am glad to hear that everything is now working as expected.
