Laptop screen turns off after login (Ubuntu 22.04)
2 Attachment(s)
I have a Pluggable 4K Docking Station Triple Monitor that I use with my LG Gram laptop (usb-c connector). I am running Ubuntu Mate 22.04.4 LTS and have version 6.0.0-24 of the DisplayLink software installed (amd64).
I have my 3 external monitors enabled, but I turned the laptop screen OFF since the lid is closed (see attached screen shot). I also clicked "Apply System-Wide" once I got things arranged so it would remember across reboots (see 2nd screen shot). I shutdown the laptop and took it to a meeting. When I powered it up I got the Ubuntu login screen. After I log in, the screen immediately turns off. Question 1: Why doesn't the DisplayLink software recognize that the only display available is the laptop screen, thus leaving it turned on? Question 2: Is there a shortcut key combo I can use to turn it back on in that case? thank you, relayman |
The only thing I can do is to connect a 2nd monitor to the laptop, then open a command prompt and run the following:
xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 1920x1080--auto This works until I reboot. I have no idea why DisplayLink keeps turning this laptop monitor off after login. I can't get it to stop. |
I created a 2nd user and when I log in under that user the screen stays on after login.
My "solution" has been to run the following command on my original login account (not the 2nd one I tested with above) and then reboot (wipes my preferences/toolbar icons etc.) but at least it "fixes" the problem. mv ~/.config ~/.config.bak |
