How to install DisplayLink driver on ubuntu 24.04.01 LTS ?

i've just upgraded my PC from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS to 24.04.01 and DisplayLink stopped working.
Driver was from Synaptic official APT repo, but now apt says it can't find candidate.
When I try to install standalone version I have a message:
Code:

sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.0.0-24.run                                                     1 ✘ 
Verifying archive integrity...  100%  MD5 checksums are OK. All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 6.0.0  100%
Distribution discovered: No LSB modules are available.
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
'evdi' Debian package appears to be installed.
This installer is incompatible with the packaged driver.

installed evdi: evdi/now 1.14.7-109 amd64 [installed,local]

How to proceed now ?

It happened that it was enough to install
evdi-dkms
package and continue with displaylink standalone installer.

Another useful resource if you have problems with evdi https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comm...mment/kd5uqyw/

Hello

I am trying to install DisplayLink for the first time on Ubuntu 24.04.1 with the stand-alone installer, but I always get this error message:

Code:

steph@steph-l141mu:~/Downloads/DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu6.1-EXE$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.1.0-17.run
[sudo] password for steph:
Verifying archive integrity...  100%  MD5 checksums are OK. All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 6.1.0  100%
Distribution discovered: No LSB modules are available.
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Unsatisfied dependencies. Missing component: Linux headers for running kernel, 6.8.0-50-generic.
This is a fatal error, cannot install DisplayLink Linux Software.

Not sure what do do here... Should I upgrade or downgrade my Kernel? Or anything else?

Thanks a lot in advance for any hint :-)

PS: I already installed evdi-dkms 1.14.2, as suggested above, but this didn't help...

Check which repos you have an check if you have secure boot enabled

Make sure you have "main" included in your list of packages from the ubuntu repo.
If you only did a minimal installation, you may not have had the main package

Ubuntu provides 4 repositories –
Main
Multiverse
Restricted
Universe

A version of dkms from main is required by evdi

Also check if you have secure boot turned on, if yes, you will need the DKMS & EVDI to be signed correctly in order to load them into the kernel via DKMS.
or turn off UEFI secure boot.
