Driver issues Kubuntu 24.04

Hello,

I'm hoping to get some help with my issues.

I am using a Dell USB dock that has DisplayLink, it has been working fine for about a month.

I had the driver installed via APT package.
Yesterday I did a `apt update && apt upgrade` and after restarting, the monitor connected to the dock has no more display.
Code:

sudo apt install displaylink-driver
[sudo] password for sergeip:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
  libevdi1
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove it.
The following additional packages will be installed:
  evdi
Suggested packages:
  xmlstarlet
The following NEW packages will be installed
  displaylink-driver evdi
0 to upgrade, 2 to newly install, 0 to remove and 4 not to upgrade.
Need to get 0 B/6,736 kB of archives.
After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used.

Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/evdi_1.14.7-109_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

If I try install the driver again from APT, I get an error relating to evdi.

I tried to install from the downloaded package and was able to get that to work (after running an uninstall on a remaining evdi)

I still get no output on my monitor.
Any suggestions?

I'm having issues with Ubuntu 24.04 and kernel 6.8.0-50, but according to the release notes for Displaylink Driver v6.1.0-17, Ubuntu is only supported up to v23.04 LTS so likely we'll just have to wait for support to be extended (no idea when that is).

Hello all,

I revisited my issue in the new year.

I ran this command and now the displaylink driver is working as expected. :D
Code:

sudo apt --fix-broken install
May this help lost souls in the future.
