HDMI Not working with External Display on MacOS

I own a StarTech DK30CH2DPPD and I have never had the HDMI connection work on MacOS with an external display.

I've owned this dock for a few years now and gave up trying to get the HDMI connection to work. I switched to using a video display cable which worked.

However things have changed and I need the HDMI cable to work. I'm running MacOS 15.5 but have tried and failed to get an HDMI monitor to work on older MacOS versions as well.

Interestingly, when I plug the HDMI cable into the dock from one of the monitors i've tried, the screen will go from "No input detected" to just a black screen so it seems there might be some communication between the dock and the display? In my MacOS settings though no external display is picked up.

I've verified the cable is good and the monitor is functioning. I've tried to re-install the driver and the DisplayLink Manager app to no avail.

Any other ideas why Video connection works but HDMI doesn't?

Hello nates8,

Thank you for reaching out.
To help us better understand the issue, could you please let us know the exact model of the monitor you’ve tested with the dock?

Please make sure you're using the latest version of DisplayLink Manager app. You can also try using a different HDMI cable or HDMI port on the dock.

If the issue continues, we recommend contacting our support team directly. You can do it by following these steps.

I have the exact, same issue, and similarly it's been going on a long time.

I have a VisionTek VT4510 that I primarily use without issue with my Windows computer and two external HDMI monitors. Trying to use it with my Mac, however, would cause it to power cycle, connecting and disconnecting the dock repeated. I'm now in the position of needing the Mac hookup to work. I reinstalled the driver, updated to Sequoia, clean-deleted using the cleaner tool, reinstalled the updated Sequoia driver, and still the same issue. It's not the USB cable, which I have repeatedly switched out and which otherwise works with Windows. DisplayLink Manager shows the displays repeatedly connecting and disconnecting.

<strike>Now, because I need the Mac to work and because I've already sunk several hours into trying to get the VT4510 to work, I decided to purchase another DisplayLink dock. Out of the box, this brand new Satechi Thunderbolt 4 has the same behavior described by OP. The HDMI monitors are all black. The dock does not power cycle, but is also not recognized by the DisplayLink Manager as being connected.</strike>

EDIT: Nevermind, the Satechi dock works great. I had the USB cable hooked up wrong as the diagram shows the computer hookup USB on the front/back but the actual port is on the side. Pretty sure this is a dock hardware issue.
