macOS Tahoe 26.1+DisplayLink Driver 14.2-Intermittent Screen Corruption(Black Blocks)
 

Issue Description:
After updating to the latest DisplayLink driver version 14.2, external monitors experience intermittent screen corruption, with random black blocks appearing on the screen. This issue did NOT occur with previous driver versions and only appears after updating to 14.2. Additional finding: The issue also occurs when connected via a Dell docking station.

Environment Information:

Computer Model: MacBook Pro (2020)

Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.1

DisplayLink Driver Version: 14.2 (Release Date: Nov 18, 2025)

Monitor Model: DL3900 chip dual displays

Connection Method: Dual displays connected via a Dell docking station

External Display Configuration: Dual-screen extended mode

Reproduction Steps:

Install DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity version 14.2.

Connect the DL3900 chip dual displays via a Dell docking station.

Use the system normally. Random black blocks will appear intermittently with no consistent trigger.

Key Findings:

The issue occurs with both direct connection and connection via a docking station, indicating it is unrelated to the connection method and is likely a compatibility issue with the core graphics processing logic in driver version 14.2.

Rolling back to a previous version of the DisplayLink driver (e.g., 14.1 or earlier) resolves the issue.

Workaround:
Roll back to a previous version of the DisplayLink driver (e.g., 14.1 or earlier).
