USB Display Not Plug n Play with Mac OS 26.3
I have an OLD Asus MB168B+ 1080p USB display, that I've been using fine with my windows work computer running Windows 11. And has been working fine on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro in the past, but I tried plugging it in to my Mac with Mac OS 26.1 (and now 26.3) Tahoe. I've updated the display link software to the latest, and this is what's happening.
IT WORKS! But only when it's plugged in before restarting the Mac. If I unplug it and plug it back in, one of two things happen. Most of the time, the light on the power button will just blink amber, then white, then off, like it's trying to power on but it can't. A few times it powered on with the ASUS logo but stayed blank. I've tried downloading the latest drivers from Asus's website, but they stop at DisplayLink 1.8, while I'm using 15. Please help! I don't want to have to restart every time I want to use this display! Thanks! |
Does it also happen if you roll back to DisplayLink Manager 13.1?

I found when I changed the "Allow accessories to connect" setting to "Always ask", it powers correctly and connects with 13.1, and tried again with 15 and it worked. But when this setting is any other value it cannot automatically connect and display. This is an OK work around for now, but maybe a Mac OS issue. |
