Yeah, disabling a video card isn't really a solution, because then you've got fewer monitors, which is the exact opposite of something you'd use DisplayLink for.

It'd be great if the "known issues...

I've got this problem too. It's a Lenovo W541 (so two display adapters) and upon boot all Modern UI apps fail, with the RPC failing in the Event Log. It goes away when I uninstall the Displaylink...
