I came here to post the exact same question and this was the fifth post down in the list. Must be a common problem. I unplugged the usb cable to use the monitor on another machine and when I put it back it won't work. I can use the adaptor from within windows on the same machine so the hardware is ok. This is the second time this has happened, the only solution I could find was to reinstall the entire OS. I've attached debug info.

KStrauss, there is a couple of things you can do. This first is to uninstall the drivers (Applications-DisplayLink-Uninstall), then reboot, repair hard drive permissions, reinstall, reboot. This didn't work for me but I believe it has for others.

The second is to download the DisplayLink debug app and post the results here.
