Hi Clarky,

This is my personal answer, might not coincide with DisplayLink's views on the matter.

As you might know as Mac OS developers we can't disclose any information received from Apple through the development program.

But I can ask you a few questions to speed up the development cycle. I'm sure you will be able to quickly answer them:
Can you point me to the Graphics Driver DDK from Apple?
Can you point me to the best path to receive development support about an accelerated driver?
Can you point me to the accurate schedule from Apple about fixing the bugs in the graphics stack in Lion that cause most of the issues you are mentioning?

I've been a Mac user since 1986. I'm using DisplayLink screens all day because they are so convenient: just one thin cable and I can connect to everything. And there are so many different products that everyone can find the right one: minimons, all sort of docks, monitors, adapters, you name it.
We can't influence too much what Apple decides to do but we work every day to improve the experience for our users on the platform, people like you or us.

So your feedback is really important, keep it coming as there is still much we can do. For example the high CPU usage is most likely our fault, we can't reproduce it yet but the next driver will have additional logging to trace it.

Cheers,
Carlo

P.S. On the bright side Apple fixed the screen grab in Lion! That was a major problem for me as 80% of my real screen estate is on DisplayLink screens.
