This sounds strange. You might be best uninstalling DisplayLink, following this FAQ:

http://kb.displaylink.com/297

Then reinstalling the latest software from the DisplayLink. If it still shows issues, then please post the log files.

Just out of interest, what software version did Windows update push to you, as it should have pushed v5.6 M1 for this adapter I think.
