We have many users who have dual monitors, and we are using the USB device. We have had no issues till recently there was one users PC where the display just stopped working. Thinking it was just the USB device I replaced it. Upon replacing it, the display came on. The next day I received an email stating that the display was off again. I took the USB adapter and put it on my extra monitor that is using the same device and it worked fine.
The device we are using is the HP (DisplayLink) USB adapter [Model#: NL571AA]
What we have tried so far:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the software
- Checking to see if there was any other video related software that might be conflicting with the HP drivers
- Disabled the built in Intel video driver
What we have noticed:
- When we plug in the USB cable to the device, while watching the device manager we see that the device is seen by the computer device manager, but the icon for the HP device does not appear in the system tray.
- This has now been seen on 2 Lenovo’s and 1 HP desktops
- After uninstalling it and restarting the PC, then after logging on we are presented with the Found New Hardware screen to install the attached device.
operating system is XP
