This happens to me several times a day. I have isolated the issue to be a DisplayLink issue. The reason being, I have tried different monitors, machines, cables, etc. And it appears that people experience this issue on DisplayLink docking stations (mine being a Toshiba Dynadock U3.0 PA3927U-1PRP). I currently have a Dell XPS 12, and 2x Dell U2412M displays.

Currently I have 2 external monitors. 1 connected via DVI and 1 connected via HDMI. I also keep my laptop monitor active, effectively presenting 3 monitors. When the issue happens, all monitors flash/flicker, with my 2 external monitors appearing as if they were unplugged from the docking station (unplug noise exists). This resets all of my open windows (browsers and applications) to the laptop monitor. Then I move my mouse over the boundary of the laptop monitor and it re-activates the external monitors which then play a noise as if they were just plugged in. I must manually drag windows back out to the external monitors and re-size them appropriately.
I'm not sure why, but in the last week or two, the frequency of this issue has multiplied.
I downloaded the support tool and, ironically, the moment I enabled advanced logging, the symptoms reproduced. I clicked "Gather Support Information" and it immediately crashed, however it shows about 70% in the screenshot. I verified there are files including dmps in the directory, so I will upload these logs now.
Be aware, I have had this docking station for about 20 months and have ALWAYS had this issue. It just happens much more frequently now.
