OK - I tried and still have the issue with Displaylink's 7.7 M2 and nVidia 347.09. I even contaced nVidia support on the issue and after they have gotten a lot of system info from me, they never got back to me...
I measured with and without USB screens inserted and benchmarked the system with 3D Mark. There was no change in performance. So I guess you can use these screens without decrease in system performance.
Also it seemes that the driver is stable with connected USB screens.
You just need to plugin the USB screens, after booting Windows. If you want to change settings on your nVidia card, you need to unplug the USB screens first.
It is not a totally satisfactory result, because it remains inconvenient, but at least I can play my games the way I like to see them.
