No we don't want that to happen!

Unfortunately the logs show that there is no monitor detected at all. We're really looking at a hardware fault here.
Being an HDMI adapter we usually think about a problem with the cable or the adapter to DVI or VGA.
From what you say it looks like the monitor is DVI and it is working OK. So one of USB to HDMI adapter or cable or HDMI to DVI adapter has a problem.
To find out I'd suggest to borrow equipment and verify the different stages of the HDMI connection.
