I was able to resolve this issue.
By downgrading my graphics driver to 10.18.14.4280. Device manager claims it is not digitally signed, but it came from dell's web site with the express service tag number for this E5450 machine.
One note, the latest and graphics displaylink software did not work. I was seriously ready to give up and I decided to remove the latest and just use what the stock adapters give me on boot up. The version they are running is DisplayLink Core Software 7.7.60366.0. There is no listing for Displaylink graphics like the latest one tried to install.
I hope this helps anyone else that runs into this issue with this laptop. My next step was just to use a docking station with DVI instead of my USB to HDMI adapters.
