Good morning Everyone,

If I posted this in the wrong forum I do apologize; Admin please move this to the appropriate location.

We are using the Diamond Wireless WPCTVPRO and even though this product is no longer in production; it has been working quite well until the Windows 10 1709 roll out.

To get around the issues of 1709 we have downloaded the latest official release of the DisplayLink software (currently 8.4 M2) and then enable Windows 7 Compatibility Mode on the .exe before installing. Our Network Technician figured out this method. This has worked wonderfully well on all of our problem laptops except for the model listed above.

Problem:
  1. After installing 8.4 M2 or 8.5 BETA without using Compatibility Mode the Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 fails and Windows disables it. Windows reports that there is a problem with the device and that it has been disabled (Code 43). The display adapter is then using the generic Microsoft Display Adapter.
  2. Restart; Problem still exists.
  3. Uninstall the 8.4 M2 or 8.5 BETA, Restart, and the display adapter is working normally.

Troubleshooting:
Using the different Windows Compatibility Modes (Windows 7 and Windows 8) on both 8.4 M2 and 8.5 BETA with restarts in between each test; the problem still exists. This is the only model laptop we have had difficulty with.

Thoughts / Opinion:
I can't prove it but my gut is telling me that because HP doesn't have any Windows 7 or 8(8.1) drivers for this model laptop; compatibility modes will not work with the software.

Thank you for your time, experience, and patience,

Thomas
