**edit** - thanks for the offer. Managed to get everything from the ALA

Had to downgrade to all of the following in order to resolve conflicts:

xorg-server-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

xf86-video-intel-1:2.99.917+823+gd9bf46e4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

xorg-server-common-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

xorg-server-xwayland-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

xf86-video-vesa-2.4.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

xf86-video-fbdev-0.4.4+12+ge0bce0d-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

Then I had to boot the old lts kernel. Gah.

Works now -- of course I neglected to ignore the packages in pacman.conf. And then pamac failed to ignore the packages I deselected, and the dang packages got re-upgraded.

I just downloaded the packages from the Arch Linux Archive and dropped them in /var/cache/pacman/pkg, and then pacman -U. Couldn't figure out why xf86-video-intel-1:2.99.917+... couldn't be downgraded. Turns out the file was incorrectly named in the ALA -- was xf86-video-intel-1_2.99.917+ instead of xf86-video-intel-1:2.99.917+ .
