That shouldn't matter. On my desk currently I use both D6000 and D3100 connected to each other. They use the same driver.
It would be helpful to get monitor information or the logs from the display support tool (last link of my signature).
You can use the End User Cleaner to force delete any element and our registry entries. Please disconnect all products with DisplayLink technology before running the tool with admin privileges:
