Hello,
I know this is largely an abandoned post, but funnily enough I have the same problem but slightly inverted.
I got the Wavlink WL-UG75PD5-3H2D which has the newest DL7400 chipset during black friday this year.
I got it specifically because I wanted to make use of my 1440p 144hz Ultrawide monitor. When I connect my personal Surface Pro 11 with ARM to it, it works with my 1440p monitor at the intended and full 144hz range.
However, with M4 Pro MacBook Pro that I have for work, it reports that it's running the monitor at 144hz and the monitor also confirms that it's receiving a 144hz signal but going to testufo.com shows that the browser is only reporting 120hz but this is also false because the 120hz ufos and the 60hz ufos are showing the same refresh rate, so in reality the Mac only reporting 144hz but rendering only 60hz.
I have the latest 14.2 version of the drivers, and I know its not other issues like weird cables because the same exact setup works exactly as intended when using the Surface Pro 11.
Is there any way this can be troubleshot further? I'm pretty confident that basically a new Mac driver is needed to address the issue, but any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
