Could you please check the following.
- Connect your Plugable adapter to your Mac.
- If macOS prompts to "Allow accessory to connect?" click "Allow".
- Choose "About this Mac" from the Apple menu on the top left corner of your main screen.
- Click on "More Info...".
- Click on "System Report…".
- The System Information application will open.
- Select the USB information from the Hardware category
In my case I can see the adapter listed:
In case it isn't visible, I would first make sure with local IT you are still allowed to connect USB accessories to your Mac.
