Hi,
Just a followup to my previous reply to this thread. Mountain Lion and the latest 1.8 driver fixed the "clamshell" problem for me as well. No crashes, very stable on a 2011 MacBook Air.

SO glad this is fixed. My Mac is now back to "it just works" mode.
