jrmmes, you legend. After days chipping away at this "universal" dock, I did what you suggested, I plugged in the D6000 and shutdown down my MBP. I then held down SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION (SMC Reset) and the MBP started up.

The System Report (Apple -- About This Mac -- System Report) now shows the D6000 Controller in the USB section and my external monitor (HDMI) came to life.

The D6000 still isn't charging my MBP with the USB-C cable, I'm still using an external power connection. I'm hoping a driver/OS update might fix this in the future.
