Default Win10 1703 - Dual-screen dock. 1 monitor blank with Extended Desktop

Hello.

Our organisation has a deployment of several thousand DisplayLink docks. We use the Lenovo USB 3.0 Ultra Dock which has 1xHDMI and 1x DisplayPort video output. We have screens attached to each video output of the Dock.

This effectively provides 3 screens for our laptop users (ie. the laptop screen + two external screens attached to the DisplayLink dock).

We've started upgrading our laptop fleet from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 1703 and encountered a strange issue.

When the Win10 user attaches to the Dock and places the laptop into 'Extended' display mode - only one of the external screens shows the extended desktop. The other external screen is blank (in fact the screen does not appear to receive any signal at all). The only way the laptop user can get the second external screen to 'light up' is to close the laptop lid.

However if the user switches to 'Duplicate Display' mode - all three screens show the output correctly. If the user then switches back to 'Extended Display' - the problem re-occurs.

So - it seems that under Windows 10 1703 there can only be a maximum of 2 screens active when Extended desktop is used (?!)

The users in question are running the latest Displaylink 8.4 M0 software release.

Has anyone else experienced this ?
