I've got a Lenovo ThinkPad W520 laptop, using RTM version of Windows 8 Pro (64 bit) and the new Lenovo video drivers for NVIDIA Quadro 1000M 8/28/2012 9.18.13.614 from:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guid...DocID=UM014961
and using the 7.0 driver for Windows 8 here:
http://displaylink.com/support/downloads.php
So nothing is beta.
This particular system shows the DisplayLink service starting, and Device Manager shows Device ID 17E9 properly according to these articles:
http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=896
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=323
But I get Device Manager issue with no USB Display device.
Instead, I get it showing:
Other devices, ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock
with these properties:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
I have been fighting this issue for a while, and realize I may need to wait for Lenovo to release their own Windows 8 drivers for smoother sailing, but it is strange that the same dock works fine with the same Windows 8 Pro (64 bit) on a ThinkPad T61. In other words, there's some sort of recovery/cleanup that seems to be needed, and hoping I can figure out what that procedure is, short of re-installing Windows 8 entirely. I also discussed this matter over here, in the now-closed forum:

Uninstalling the DisplayLink 7.0 software and rebooting and reinstalling didn't help. Uninstalling the devices through Device Manager didn't help either. Sticking with Discreet video mode in the BIOS didn't help either (since single GPU is recommended since multiple GPUs like Optimus mode can be a problem with DisplayLink).
Any ideas? Will post diags below shortly...
