Turns out that I can only turn off my primary 2560x1444 DisplayPort connected display (straight from the laptop's DisplayPort) by it's power switch, not by turning off the power strip it's plugged in to. Why? Well, I get BSODs if I use the power strip, very strange, seems to have to do with NVIDIA drivers (problem happened on one beta driver earlier this summer too). Still in NVIDIA Discreet Video mode in my W520's BIOS (NVIDIA Optimus mode still problematic under Windows 8).

But those issues have nothing to do with the DisplayLink stuff really, and at least I've found stability as long as I don't use the power strip for now.

Still waiting for a Windows 8 DisplayLink driver set with iPad-as-monitor support, looking forward to that experience.
