ntvdm cpu encountered an illegal instruction xp

I receive the following error when I am installing the new Version 7, release Sept 7? I receive the error:

ntvdm cpu encountered an illegal instruction...

Installation process stops. I have XP, SP3.

This looks to be a problem with the NVIDIA driver, rather than specific to DisplayLink. A quick google for the error shows that other users have had the problem with other hardware:
