I've read several posts on here about issues with Dell's D3100 but none seem to be the same as my issue. Here are the details:
-Brand new Acer laptop, Intel i7, Windows 10 -one external monitor plugged into D3100 via DVI to HDMI adapter -2nd monitor is a Vizio 4k TV. I've plugged it into HDMI on D3100 and also tried it in DisplayPort using HDMI to DP adapter -4k TV continually shows "No Signal" even though Windows' Display settings recognize that all three monitors are there. No setting I've chosen, however, will fix the issue. -4K gets signal if I bypass the D3100 and plug directly into laptop's HDMI port -The most updated drivers have been installed -Both HDMI ports on the D3100 work when I plug the DVI monitor into them Spent 90 minutes on phone with Dell tech support earlier in the week. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. One techie friend suggested my TV may be too nice for the D3100... like maybe the D3100 couldn't push a strong enough signal. Another techie friend suggested if I replaced my HDMI to DP adapter with a 4k adapter, it may work (my current adapter is about a year old). Anyone have any idea? |

Hi David,
The 4K on that dock is through the DisplayPort plug only, not through the HDMI. Then, maybe the DP->HDMI adapter you are using is not 'active' enough. I've seen that with someone else last week whose DP->HDMI was supposed to do 4K but didn't. Changing to the Plugable DP-HDMI active adapter solved it. Cheers, Alban
