xserver patch on Ubuntu 20.04

I applied the xserver patch for Ubuntu 20.04 as recommended here, but it doesn't appear to stay applied after a reboot. Every time I reboot I have to install it again, log out, log back in, and it works. Does anyone know of a way to make the patch permanent?

Same problem here. I am trying with

Code:

sudo apt-mark hold xserver-xorg-core

as suggested here.I want to try some reboots to ensure this solution is working and I will update the post eventually.
