1600x1024 Resolution Support
1600x1024 is a VESA standard
For what reason is it not a resolution option when setting display parameters? |

1600x1024 is not a standard mode:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ve...Standards2.svg Do you mean 1600x1200? This mode is supported by DisplayLink, if reported by the monitor in the EDID AND the DisplayLink chip supports the mode (ie not a DL-12*. Wim |

VESA Standard - Yes, No, Maybe
You are correct - 1600 x 1024 is missing from the page to which you linked
And Silicon Graphics who sold monitors at this resolution say that 1600 x 1024 is a VESA standard and Apple's 22" Cinema Display also uses 1600 x 1024. It has certainly been supported by VESA before Anyway, the above is besides the point I have attached the EDID timing parameters file in TXT format to this message Does this file provide all the information needed? What has to happen for your software to support 1600 x 1024? Best wishes Nigel |

OK - the EDID does look like it reports this mode. This mode should be supported on a DL-165 or a DL-195 chip (eg it will be advertised to support 1680x1050 or higher).
Can you post the log files, most importantly the .edid file and the DisplayLink*.log files as described here: http://kb.displaylink.com/269 Thanks Wim |

Thanks for the log files. There is an EDID read from the monitor and it does have 1600x1024 in it. However it is not reliably read. Our software checks the EDID periodically to check the monitor hasn't changed. If it cannot read the EDID, you will get the default mode list which will not include this mode.
Looking at the log files, I cannot see a successful read at any point, which is why you are not being offered this mode. I think this monitor is a bit unreliable when presenting its EDID. Wim |
