Default Video freezing - vsync over displaylink?

Hi,

we recently bought a Lenovo LT1421 for displaying visual stimuli.
The screen works fine for general desktop use, and videos play, as well.

However, when we use software that's written for frame syncing to eliminate tearing, the image does not update on the displaylink device. If we move the window to be half on the normal screen and half on the displaylink screen, the half on the normal screen will play normally, but the other half is frozen.
As far as I understand the software tries to use vsync to eliminate the tearing, so I'm wondering whether there's some general problem with vsync over displaylink? I've looked around on the web but haven't found any real answer.

I'd be grateful for any insights or ideas how to display movies over displaylink without tearing. Thanks!

There is a problem with tearing on video if you use Windows media player, with a basic graphics theme (with 6.3). The work around is to use a different media player, or use Aero mode.
