Unhappy DisplayLinkCore.MSI on Unavailable Resource???

I have been using Kensington multi-display adapters for a few years. I just bought two new adapters and when I plugged them in the Displaylink software attempted to install. However I continue to get the error that the displaylinkcore.msi is on a network resources that is unavailable.

I have tried to uninstall all displaylink versions using the suggestions in knowledge base, but the error continues.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

Can you uninstall the Displaylink software you have installed, download and run this tool (http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=297), install the latest graphics driver for your system and then download and install release 7.2M from here http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,
James

Default Same Error

Hi James -

First thanks for your help, it is appreciated.

I followed all the steps you outlined and I continue to get the same error when trying to install Displaylink

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable....enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'DisplayLinkCore.msi' in the box below"

I hit "cancel" Then I get this error:

"The older version of Display Link Core cannot be removed."

Any suggestions?

Default HELP - DisplayLinkCore.msi on a network resource.. no longer available

James / Anyone:

I just ran into the same problem. It occurred when windows update attempted to install updated driver software. I had the original software on my HDD, however it is in the form of an .exe file - so pointing the setup program to that location did not work. I attempted to cancel the update and the same message appeared about not being able to uninstall the older version.

My unit is now bricked and useless.

Any help would be appreciated.
