Hey,
I've just got a new Laptop using windows 8 It took me hours to get the displaylink adapter (Toshiba Dynatock U3.0) working well with it - I did allsorts of driver combinations, laptop BIOS upgrade etc etc. Unfortunately I had to use the recovery DVDs due to a problem when I was migrating to an SSD, and now I can't work out what actually fixed the problem. I've attached logs. If it helps I seem to have noticed 2 things:- 1) It happens most often when there is activity on the DL controlled displays. 2) sometimes it happens when there is a lot of network activity other times it's almost entirely random though. |

This sounds like the device is dropping off the USB bus, which could be due to a known problem with the VIA USB 3.0 hub in the dock. There is a firmware update from VIA to fix this, and is available from the Toshiba support website here:

Thanks for the reply, my hub was already at version 9.82 but I reapplied it anyway.
I don't think it's dropping off the hub, I've seen it do something similar to that and that resulted in a windows unplug and plug in device sound (per device connected) This is silent as far as windows is concerned, just the display goes off and back on. Do the logs reveal anything? |

Hi,
I've raised this internally for further investigation. Thanks, James |
