Hi, I bought an "ETEKCITY USB 2.0 UGA" multi-display adapter. It arrived in the mail today, I proceeded to un-box and run the install disk. It said windows 8 on the installer, so I assumed it would work fine with windows 8.1. The computer I am running on is a "HP ENVY DV6", and all the device tells me is "USB device not recognized" when I plug it in. So I began to explore the files of the cd, I found a "Drivers update link" inside the "Drivers_USB2.0" folder. It led me HERE There I see some information about 8.1
"Upgrading to Windows 8.1? DisplayLink recommends v7.4 software (or later) on Windows 8.1. If you are upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, please refer to this article BEFORE upgrading to Windows 8.1 to make the experience as smooth as possible." I click this article and it brings me to a page that says quite a bit. Long story short, this is my moms laptop and it came with Windows 8, but she updated to 8.1 prior to even having this device. So I follow the "I have upgraded to Windows 8.1, but did not upgrade to v7.4 software first. What do I do?", and I get the same error. Then I tried "I've tried installing the latest software and I still cannot get my DisplayLink devices to work on Windows 8.1", and I am getting the same error. Any ideas? Please help, if you need more information don't hesitate to ask. |

Hi,
It's possible that the drivers have been loaded but not installed. In Device Manager is there an entry called "USB Display Adapters"? If not do you see entries with a yellow bang against them under "Other devices"? Please attach the output of this tool: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Thanks, James |
