Default Monitors doesn't start when booting my Mac on Tahoe

Hello,

I have a Mac Studio M1 Max, a Targus dock and two screens (connected to the Targus by HDMI and DisplayPort).

Everything worked fine on Sequoia. I updated to Tahoe now and my screens doesn't start. I have to wait some time, and enter my password totally blind to log in on my Mac.

The kernel extension was installed already.

Any ideas?

TIA.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest performing a 'clean' install of the latest version of DisplayLink Manager, version 14.2 Note, in 14.2 the 'Login screen extension' is installed automatically by default. It no longer needs to be manually installed as was necessary in earlier versions of the application.

First, run the DisplayLink End User Cleaner utility for macOS --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...tool-for-macos which will completely remove the DisplayLink Manager Application.

Second, download and install the latest DisplayLink Manager Application 14.2 --> https://www.synaptics.com/products/d...ownloads/macos

If that process does not resolve the issue and the original manufacturer (Targus) of your docking station is unable to assist you, then I would suggest reporting the issue to DisplayLink directly by following the process outlined here --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...to-displaylink

I did it already with no luck. Thanks, anyway. Also, the DisplayLink support email is not working, so I'm lost...

Can you please provide more detail? For example, did you get a bounce message when trying to email DisplayLink?

I can confirm that I see a ticket from waldermartinez in the support system raised yesterday.
It’s currently awaiting a response from our support engineer and will be serviced at the earliest possible occasion. Waldermartinez, thank you for your patience - we appreciate your understanding.

Regards,
Szymon

It may be different for you, but I have a similar issue.

I think it is because I have FileVault running on my Mac. FileVault doesn't allow a full boot up before first login so the DisplayLink software doesn't launch until you have completed the first log in.

The solutions I have come up with so far is to either ssh into to my macmini, use VNC, or use USB-C, or HDMI to enable the first log in then it is fine.

My alternate solution is to disable FileVault. You can check if FileVault is active using terminal

/usr/bin/fdesetup status
