Hi,
I'm using an ethernet based KVM switch, which uses Display-Link software. The software runs on two computers, each with win XP / SP 3 and works perfect on one of them. On the other one, the message 'Network AV-17: The system was unable to write to the selected device' (The original message is in German language) apperars in the task-bar after selection of this computer. The USB connection works fine (i.e. I can use mouse and keyboard connected to the KVM). The problem occurs with the update of the most current version. I tried uninstall and the old version (5.x ) available on the manufactureres CD, but this failed also. The service is running and a 'DisplayLink Graphics Adapter' and a 'DisplayLink Mirror Adapter' are shown in the video-card section of the device manager. Both are reported to work fine. Any hints or suggestions? Tomy |

I don't recognise that error message, or aware of our technology being inside Ethernet KVMs. Can you tell me exactly what product you have and how it is connected?

OK - that's a product which uses another chipset and driver to virtualise USB over Ethernet from the PC to our chip. The error you are getting looks to be from this virtualisation driver, that is not provided by DisplayLink.
I would suggest contacting the product manufacturer about this, as it is outside our driver and chip. Wim |
