I have Hulu Plus Live TV, and have been using my ancient 2015 Macbook Pro as a client for a year, with both Firefox and Chrome (I have never used Safari). It's older than dirt, but it has always Just Worked. I have been using a Wavlink dock to get access to two external monitors.
I *just* migrated overnight to a shiny new M5 Macbook Pro, which looks to have updated both Firefox and Chrome, and installed DisplayLink 15.0 to use the dock. I tried to spin up hulu.com on various browsers, and all looks normal until I try to watch a recording. Firefox shows me an image that refreshes every minute or two, and I hear normal sound. Chrome, Safari and the "Friendly Streaming Browser" (I saw someone suggest it somewhere) show me a black screen with normal sound. Live TV is about the same - Firefox shows me new images every so often, while other browsers show a blank inset or screen. A reddit user asked about screen recording. DisplayLink Manager 15.0 is enabled for Screen & System Audio Recording. If I disable it, I lose my external monitors connected to my Wavlink dock. But it does get video back to normal. What can I do here? Do I have to dump DisplayLink? |

The behavior you describe is expected when using DisplayLink based products with a Mac, and DisplayLink documents this behavior here --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...y-on-mac-while
With that said, some have reported that disabling the 'Hardware Acceleration' option within the Chrome or Firefox browser can sometimes produce a different result. |

Hi there,
I do have the same problem. As far as I understood due to researching the web, the issue are MacOS privacy regulations with the "sharing" function of Wavlink. Wavlink is using the sharing to send the image to the screen. This gets recognized as display recording from MacOS and gets blocked anyway. I tried all the tipps I found, but nothing solved the issue. Only way is to connect my 2 displays directly to my MacMini. If someone has an idea - please let me know |
