Default Dell D6000 problems with ethernet connection

I’m using a Dell D6000 docking station with a Dell Latitude 5500 laptop. The docking station is version A04. All of the laptop’s drivers have been updated using the Dell Driver Support website. I’ve also tried downloading and using the latest Intel drivers directly from their website. I’m using DisplayLink version 12.2 M2.

I am now experiencing the following problem: When I connect the notebook to the docking station, a connection is established briefly. Connection issues when attempting to access additional websites indicate that the Ethernet icon has changed to the Wi-Fi icon in the Windows 11 taskbar. At that point, an Internet connection is no longer possible. Only a full restart resolves the issue.

However, this issue occurs whether the laptop is fully charged, has a low battery, or is in power-saving mode.
