Angry can docking station work on Windows 7 ??

Ok, so I have the Kensington Universal Docking station. Used the "onboard" installation, which more or less makes it work: mouse, keyboard and ethernet all working. But... when I close the laptop lid for a while, screen goes black and won't turn on again. Only a reboot helps.

Tried the update that is offered but it will not install. Again, it makes the screen go blackm permanently and this time only a system-restore will help.

Also tried de-installing all older software and installing the latest stuff from the website (as suggested elsewher on this forum). This time the mouse and keyboard work, the lid can be closed and opened and the screen will NOT go black, however, ethernet will NOT work with this version. Also, the onboard software wanst still to be installed, however if you permit it to do so... nothing happens !

Any suggestions on getting the docking station to do what its supposed to ?
PC = Dell XPS with Windows 7 64bit and no other displays connected.
