Default Windows 8 - DVI not working

Thank God I found an active thread about this got damn docking station.

Ok, I have a Dell XPS 14z and just installed Windows 8 Professional using an external monitor (LCD is recently broken so I'm just using external monitor until kit comes in). Currently, the laptop is connected directly to my ASUS monitor via HDMI cable.

I've installed the latest driver from the Targus site. However, EVERY TIME I connect the DVI cable to the docking station, the system freezes until about 15 seconds after I disconnect it. Didn't have this issue with 7 of course, just 8. I've tried re-installing to no success. USB ports work fine -- mouse, keyboard, external HD are all connected to docking station and work fine. It's just the DVI display that isn't.

The times when I thought it wouldn't freeze, my ASUS monitor just has the backlight showing with nothing on it.

Please help...
