Default Unable to use USB display as primary

Hi

I have an Asus MB168+ USB3 display, which I used to use on it's own, attached to an Asus Vivo mini PC, running Windows 10.

I have now upgraded to the Anniversary edition 14393.321.

I have un-installed the Asus software and loaded the Displaylink 8.0.762.0 driver.

The usb display works perfectly, when I have another monitor connected to the PC's HDMI port. Using the Windows app I can duplicate the displays, extend the displays, show only on 1 (the HDMI monitor) and even show only on 2 (the usb display)

However, as soon as I unplug the HDMI monitor, the usb display, while showing the full desktop and icons, will not show any applications, except in the task bar.

If I boot the system with just the usb display connected, I get the same full desktop without the ability to run applications at full or part screen. When I plug the HDMI monitor back in, full function returns to the usb display, while nothing shows on the monitor. Windows settings indicates that the usb display is still number 2 and I am in show only on 2.

When in Windows display settings, the "make this my main display" checkbox will not activate.

Strangely, the HDMI monitor does not have to be powered up, only connected.

I bought this light weight setup so that I did not have to carry round a monitor and I had more versatility than a laptop.

Is this issue recognised and will there be a fix?

Cheers
