Software issue

I have purchased a USB Display Adapter and am unable to load the software properly.
I have two computers and the problem is with both.
Neither will recognize the CD so I downloaded the software from this website and installed it on both.
It is showing under in "C"s Program Files and Programs and Features in the Control Panel and I can uninstall.
When I plug the USB lead into either computer I get "USB devise not recognized".
What could be the problem here?
