Thanks for the log files. There is an EDID read from the monitor and it does have 1600x1024 in it. However it is not reliably read. Our software checks the EDID periodically to check the monitor hasn't changed. If it cannot read the EDID, you will get the default mode list which will not include this mode.
Looking at the log files, I cannot see a successful read at any point, which is why you are not being offered this mode. I think this monitor is a bit unreliable when presenting its EDID. Wim |

Thank you
Is there a way to get the DisplayLink driver to be manually set with the appropriate EDID information? Or at least 1600 x 1024 @ 60Hz? |

Hi
No, there is no way to force an EDID into our software. If there is no EDID, then the default common modes are offered, but this is not one of them. Wim |

Can 1600 x 1024 be added as a default common mode?

This is usually monitor-dependent. Second, Apple doesn't obey standards, this is why they're all proprietary. I've never seen 1600x1024 supported by VESA. It's either 1600x1200 or 1680x1050.
Here's a reference list for you: http://www.nobell.org/~gjm/pc/aspect.html Like, this adapter I have works at 1366x768 on one TV over HDMI, but on another, that resolution isn't available. If your display device isn't showing that VESA standard resolution to the DisplayLink chip in the adapter, no Operation System will know. Although, it could be the DisplayLink drivers as well :P. I saw the other posts, just giving you a reference. Last edited by Saturn2888; 05-04-2011 at 01:32 AM. |

Thanks for the input Saturn
These displays are made by Silicon Graphics and have always - as in every single time - worked with every version of Windows from XP onwards when connected to the PC's DVI connector So DisplayLink - How is Windows managing to display 1600 x 1024? |
