Same problem here.
The thing is I'm from Argentina, and I've paid almost the same price in taxes to get my Varidrive into my country. It's not that simple for me to return it.

Any other solution?

Hi,

I'm afraid that a return is the only option.

I'm actively working on this issue so please bear with me whilst I try and sort it out. I'll update you again when I know more.

I have the same problem. I got the first varidrive replaced by Amazon and it has the same issue. So far I can not get any one as ASUS that can help me.

I think this is a solution:

It needs a firmware update and burning the SN to the Varidrive.

Yes I installed the update and it all works fine. Your links seem to take me to the Spanish site though.

But you being from Argentina that makes sense. At least I can comprende pocito espanol. LOL

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me. I'm prompted to enter the SN, which I do, and the program just loops back and prompts me to enter the SN again.

On one of my Varidrives it worked like a charm. However, when I got back home and tried in the second unit, I got this message (after that screen it goes right back to "enter serial" screen):

Here's another result I got (again, it goes back to serial entry screen):
