[QUOTE=Mewho;79026]Hi all,
I have a dell 3100 docking station hooked up to 2 dell u2414h monitors via hdmi and a new 12" macbook. every time i download something using a download manager (multithreaded) or generally push a lot of data through the ethernet port, i get a kernel panic and my mac restarts. this is not the case when i disconnect network cable and work via wifi. this issue appeared after i upgraded to 10.11 and the new 2.5 beta 2. any suggestions?
thanks

Hi Mewho,

Thank you for the report!
From El Capitan we're using the inbox Ethernet driver AppleUSBNCM.kext.
This is new in 10.11 and has been behaving well in our tests so far.

We will try to reproduce your issue to get a better backtrace. If we can point to an issue in the Ethernet driver we'll open a bug with Apple.

Looking at the information you posted though we'd first look at the Parallels kext (com.parallels.kext.vic). Again we would need to analyse more in detail a live issue to definitely prove anything.

Best regards,
Carlo

Thanks for the reply,
i tried using an external usb3 to ethernet adapter based on the ax88179 chip and experienced the same issue. it was connected via the usb3 port on the d3100 dock. i'm also experiencing many other crashes so this may be el capitan issues (super unstable on new macbook) my next test will be to connect the adapter to the usb-c to usb adapter that i just ordered from apple and see if the crashes still occur...that would rule out the dock a (and the displaylink driver) as the culprit. i should be receiving it in the next day or so and will update accordingly.
thanks again

Thank you this would be very useful.

We have noticed instability using the multiport adaptor (not kernel panics though). The simpler USB C adapter worked well instead but does not charge of course.

Carlo
