I understand your points about Microsoft and ultimately a system that is not fully patched being to blame.
The fact is that when you install a piece of software, with no warnings about compatibility issues or out of date certificates, and without knowing that your Windows install must be fully patched it is the software's fault. How would end users know that they should make sure they are fully patched before proceeding? We'll agree to disagree. |

Great... So, you release m5, but what about those who have machines which have had this installed, and cannot boot?

Boot into safe mode,
Select : Disable driver signature enforcement You should be able to boot successfully. Remove Display link software entirely. Restart: Download 7.9 M3 Restart, test etc.. |

I have put 7.9 M5 online now: http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/windows
We have added another signature on the installer on top because of a brand new requirement on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 for SmartScreen. Drivers are now signed 3 times (drivers by MS and DL; installer by DL with EV)!
