System instability since 2.6 Beta

I've noticed the same behavior with the 2.5.0 drivers on EC 10.11.5 the last few days...

I can't tell what's causing it because at that time the CPU usage is so extreme I can't open Activity Monitor anymore. And guess what, I only see this behavior when plugged in a DL-device. So I installed the 2.6 beta this morning to see if there's a difference. But what keeps me wondering is why I've had an "OK"-ish experience with 2.5.0 for months and the last few days CPU usage goes up to 100%?

Perhaps something changed in OSX then with a latest update.. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Like you, I can't open Activity Monitor or it opens but then can't refresh itself to get a process list. I've managed to open terminal and run top but that doesn't show any numbered processes misbehaving - just 0% idle CPU - then terminal stops being able to accept text input

I've had at least three very severe slowdowns in the last 10 days. Nothing usable really, had to leave the Mac alone for 3-5 minutes before it became usable again.
In two cases when using Parallels, in another case just browsing with Safari. No external screens connected.
Don't have a theory yet, the CPU did not seem to be the problem.

Will investigate further if it happens again. Thing is, I don't like to open Parallels at all but if it triggers the problem I'll have to.
