I am having the same issue. After the AU for Windows the display adapter only shows a black screen when you first plug the USB cable into my laptop.

However, I did find a workaround for this. Once I plug the USB cable in and my second monitor goes black, I then press the Windows+P combo, wait 2 seconds, and then press Windows+P again. By doing that twice, it puts me in the "duplicate" monitor mode. My second monitor starts working then. Once my second monitor is working, I can then select the "Second Screen Only" option and it will work as normal. If I unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in, I have to follow the above instructions again.

It appears there is something wrong with the driver or communication in Windows where the "Second Screen Only" option doesn't work unless you switch it to one of the other options first.

Switched on but black screen generally means our driver doesn't get any pixel, but that is not enough to help solving the problem.
Kind regards,

Attached is the advanced diagnostics that was run while the screen was black.

Just to repeat the issue I am seeing with this:

After the Windows 10 1607 upgrade, the screen is black when first connected to the USB adapter. I then press Windows+P several times to switch to another mode like "Duplicate" or "Extend". Wait a few seconds and the second monitor comes on, then switch it to "Second Screen Only". If I unplug the USB I have the repeat the above steps again.

Thank you APT,
I will need a bit more time to analyse this with engineering, and may need to ask Microsoft for advice.
Your finding with the Windows+P is surprising but extremely useful!
Kind regards,
Alban

Thanks for the logs. It looks like the DisplayLink USB driver is not running for some reason. Could you try uninstalling the DisplayLink driver from under "Display Adapters" in device manager, then replug the device to get the driver from Windows update.

Hopefully this will solve the issue.

Hello,

Owners of products with USB hardware ID = USB\VID_17e9&PID_0113, please send an email to technical_enquiries at displaylink.com with subject line "8.0 M3 Dev Build for PID 0x0113" to get a link to download the driver.

Kind regards,

Hi Alban,

I received the link to the M3 drivers this morning; once installed and after running auto adjust on my monitor the Toshiba Dynadock-U appears to be working as designed and its nice to have the displaylink icon back on the task bar. Glad I didn't throw the Dynadock out of my window, but it probably is time for me to start to consider a replacement soon.

Thank you for your help and I look forward to the official update via a Windows 10 accumulative update.

Update: I have updated all Windows 10 machines and other than having to press the auto adjust button on the screen when ever I switch from a windows 10 machine and a machine running windows 7 or visa versa all is well. When I move between win 10 to win 7 the display shifts left partially off of the screen until I use auto adjust to re-centre it (only a minor inconvenience).
